The EMDM grant is one of two schemes under the Erasmus Mundus programme. The grant is intended for the preparation of new, innovative, and highly integrated joint master's degree programmes.

Funding is provided to a single beneficiary (a so-called mono-beneficiary grant), although the applicant must list the other consortium members in the application. The consortium must consist of at least three higher education institutions from three different countries, with at least two of them coming from EU Member States or associated countries.

The standard project duration is 15 months. The grant is paid as a lump sum of EUR 60,000.

The implementation or completion of an EMDM is neither a prerequisite for nor a guarantee of obtaining an Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM).

This 4EU+ Alliance instrument supports innovative projects focused on collaboration among the alliance's universities. Depending on the terms of the current annual call for proposals, the preparation of a joint study programme may be one of the eligible activities. The call for the 2026/2027 academic year focuses exclusively on research projects, distinguishing between two schemes: one for early-career researchers and another for advanced researchers. Project proposals may come from any scientific discipline but must involve participants from at least three member universities and fall within the scope of at least one of the so-called 4EU+ Flagships.

The standard duration is a maximum of 12 months. Financial support is typically capped at €50,000 per project; however, in the 2026/2027 call, the maximum is €40,000 per scheme.

FoCUs:4EU+ is a new type of institutional support for cooperation within the 4EU+ alliance. It is divided into two key schemes, one of which—the 4EU+ Synergy scheme—can be used to prepare and implement joint research, educational, and innovation activities. Funds may be used to organize meetings or develop new forms of cooperation, but projects must align with one of the so-called Flagships.

The funding amount can reach up to CZK 300,000 for a 12-month project. Specific conditions for the 4EU+ Synergy call (application deadlines, evaluation criteria, etc.) can be found here.

The EMJM grant is intended for the implementation of highly integrated joint master's degree programmes leading to the award of a joint or multiple degree.

The project must be implemented by a consortium of at least three higher education institutions from three different countries, of which at least two are EU Member States or associated countries. The consortium may also include other educational and/or non-educational partners.

The project duration is six academic years, encompassing at least four cohorts (intakes) of the Master's degree program, with each cohort lasting one to two academic years (60, 90, or 120 ECTS).

The funding amounts to up to EUR 5 million and includes student stipends of EUR 1,400 per month for 24 months, as well as institutional contributions—intended to cover teaching, administrative support, and international mobility—of approximately EUR 750 per student per month.

The MSCA-Doctoral Networks programme, including the Joint Doctorates format, is part of the EU’s Horizon Europe framework programme.

Funding is intended to support the implementation of a joint doctoral programme based on highly integrated international, interdisciplinary, and intersectoral cooperation; it covers the costs of funding doctoral candidates, their mobility, joint research, training, and networking activities, as well as institutional costs associated with programme coordination, administration, and management.

These programmes must be implemented by a consortium of at least three institutions from different countries and feature a unified study structure, coordinated curricula, joint supervision of dissertations, and a systematically established framework for the international mobility of doctoral candidates.
