            Several grant schemes and support instruments are available to fund international joint st

            covering both the preparatory and implementation phases of these programmes. The financial
            joint study programmes can be further supplemented by standard Erasmus+ mobility grants, w
            short-term and long-term study stays abroad.

            * Preparatory phase

            Erasmus Mundus Design Measures (EMDM)

            The EMDM grant [ URL "https://erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu/opportunities/organisations/cooper
            organisations-and-institutions/erasmus-mundus-design-measures"] is one of two schemes unde
            Mundus programme. The grant is intended for the preparation of new, innovative, and highly

            master's degree programmes.

            Funding is provided to a single beneficiary (a so-called mono-beneficiary grant), although

            must list the other consortium members in the application. The consortium must consist of 
            higher education institutions from three different countries, with at least two of them co
            Member States or associated countries.


            The standard project duration is 15 months. The grant is paid as a lump sum of EUR 60,000.


            The implementation or completion of an EMDM is neither a prerequisite for nor a guarantee 
            Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM).
            SEED4EU+

            This 4EU+ Alliance instrument [ URL "https://4euplus.eu/4EU-1092.html?"] supports innovati
            focused on collaboration among the alliance's universities. Depending on the terms of the 
            call for proposals, the preparation of a joint study programme may be one of the eligible 

            call for the 2026/2027 academic year focuses exclusively on research projects, distinguish
            schemes: one for early-career researchers and another for advanced researchers. Read more

            Project proposals may come from any scientific discipline but must involve participants fr
            member universities and fall within the scope of at least one of the so-called 4EU+ Flagsh


            The standard duration is a maximum of 12 months. Financial support is typically capped at 
            project; however, in the 2026/2027 call, the maximum is €40,000 per scheme.

            FoCUs: 4EU+
            FoCUs:4EU+ [ URL "https://cuni.cz/UK-15380.html"] is a new type of institutional support f
            within the 4EU+ alliance. It is divided into two key schemes, one of which—the 4EU+ Synerg

            used to prepare and implement joint research, educational, and innovation activities. Fund
            organize meetings or develop new forms of cooperation, but projects must align with one of
            Flagships.


            The funding amount can reach up to CZK 300,000 for a 12-month project. Specific conditions

            Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM)

            integrated joint master's degree programmes leading to the award of a joint or multiple de


            The project must be implemented by a consortium of at least three higher education institu
            different countries, of which at least two are EU Member States or associated countries. T

            The project duration is six academic years, encompassing at least four cohorts (intakes) o

            degree program, with each cohort lasting one to two academic years (60, 90, or 120 ECTS).

            The funding amounts to up to EUR 5 million and includes student stipends of EUR 1,400 per 

            months, as well as institutional contributions—intended to cover teaching, administrative 
            international mobility—of approximately EUR 750 per student per month.
            Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions – Doctoral Networks - Joint Doctorates

            The MSCA-Doctoral Networks [ URL "https://marie-sklodowska-curie-actions.ec.europa.eu/acti
            networks"] programme, including the Joint Doctorates format, is part of the EU’s Horizon E
            programme.


            Funding is intended to support the implementation of a joint doctoral programme based on h
            international, interdisciplinary, and intersectoral cooperation; it covers the costs of fu

            candidates, their mobility, joint research, training, and networking activities, as well a
            costs associated with programme coordination, administration, and management.
